It’s Been Nine Fine Years of Awesomely Luvvie!

9 years ago on August 8, 2006, I decided to scrap my little rinky dinky blog I started in college. I felt like I had outgrown it so I logged on to Blogspot and started a new blog where I just wanted to talk about whatever my heart desired. I didn’t have a plan or strategy but I just knew I enjoyed writing as a hobby.

I had no idea that it would become the beast it did and change my life so thoroughly. I could have never guessed that I would one day do this full time and that it’d lead me to the things of dreams I never had because they were just too big. Had you told me that 9 years later, I would be working on a book and doing some of the things I’m doing now, I woulda told you to shut up with your madness.

Awesomely Luvvie at 9

Nine years of, and I am thankful for the journey, thankful for some of the struggles and thankful for the lessons. I am proof that life is what happens when you have other plans, and sometimes, it blows your plans out of the water in the best way.

Thank YOU all for your support. To LuvvNation veterans, I love you sincerely because your words kept me writing even in the months when I couldn’t pay my bills and in the moments when I was down. You’ve lifted ME up so it’s been my pleasure to do the same for you. To the newbies in LuvvNation, welcome to the family. You are amongst your people.

Last year, I celebrated 8 years with my Awesomely Golden party in Chicago and we had A BLAST. It was wayyy too much fun. Next year’s 10th anniversary celebration will be a multi-city pordee. Please wear sneakers and flats because we’re dancing for hours. Kthx.

How long have you been reading my blog and how did you find it? Let a G know!

I love that while you make us laugh, you also make us think. May you continue to be an inspiration for the next generation of smart, savvy, independent thinkers and creators. #LuvNation

It has been since last November, “Devante from Jodeci and This Stingy Struggle Ponytail He’s Rocking.” I have been on this earth as a ghost ever since because I died that day and haven’t crossed over into the light yet because I need to read more Luvvie. I passed that link on to colleagues and a friend of mine who called it up on his phone and read it out loud to some ladies on a NJ Transit train who were salty because the train was delayed. My friend said the were all D-E-D when the train pulled into their station. Then they got silent and gave him the side-eye and said, “how do YOU, a white boy, know about this and we don’t?” Then they all started laughing again.

    Errbody reading Luvvie now.

I’ve been reading you since you had that Yahoo avi with the argyle sweater, and I am equally FLOORED and motivated by all you’ve been able to accomplish. One favor for an old head? Make sure the 10 year rolls through Houston, and bring some jollof rice.
