The Kindness Train is Sponsoring this Book Tour Giveaway

Two weeks ago, I announced the virtual book tour that accompanies the launch of my 2nd book, Professional Troublemaker: The Fear-Fighter Manual.

I’m doing seven stops with seven amazing conversation partners: Myleik Teele, Gabrielle Union, Esther Perel, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Kahlana Barfield Brown, KevOnStage, Glennon Doyle.

It’s an epic book tour because each of these people are powerhouses in their own right.

It was important for me to have people who I think make good trouble (shoutout to the late, great John Lewis) in whatever industry they’re in as conversation partners for this tour. The spirit of this book I wrote (and I’m really proud of) is the spirit of audacity. I want people who read it to walk away knowing that they have the right to want more, actually ask for more, and live a life that is so big that their wildest dreams say GOALS.

All that to say, this tour was curated with intention.

From the moment I dropped the tour announcement, the response was so dope! My comments and DMs lit up!

That night, someone tweeted that they just bought their ticket and that they would like to buy three tickets for Black women who wanted to come but couldn’t afford a ticket for the tour. I retweeted it, and the person did just that. I so was touched by that show of generosity. Somebody else saw my retweet and said, “I, too, will sponsor 3 Black women to come to the tour.” They end up sponsoring eight Black women’s tickets.

I started getting more DMs from others who wanted to do the same thing and sponsor tickets for Black women, so I decided to post about it on my Awesomely Luvvie Facebook page.

That Facebook thread poured the best fire into the kindness train, as countless people started commenting. “I’ll sponsor four people.” “I‘ll sponsor five people.” and people who wanted tickets but couldn’t afford them, had the graciousness to ask and replied saying, “Hey, sponsor me.”

1,000 comments and at least 500 tickets sponsored (my estimation) later, that chain of kindness has me floored in the best way possible. I cried as I scrolled through the thread, which just kept going. I had not seen anything like this before.

Then I posted about it on Instagram and the goodness continued! My friends joined the kindness train and were sponsoring 10, 20, 25, 100 people! When I tell you I was trapped in a glass case of emotions – my goodness!

So here are are.

My AMAZING friends deeply believe in me, this book and y’all. They’ve come together to sponsor over 500 tickets for people to attend my tour because you deserve a moment to put yourself first.

This was me, because my friends make a thug cry.
