On this episode, I’m feeling good about the love I got on my trip to Dublin, ranting about why I hate voicemails, and spotlighting Tiffany Aliche, “the Budgetnista.” My interview is with the brilliant writer, Damon Young.

Feel Good

I’m feeling good about the love I got from my Dublin trip. I was invited to keynote the International Coaches Federation’s annual conference, their global leaders forum. My presentation is called Create An Authentic Brand Stories and I went to Dublin for four days to do this. ICF is the biggest coach’s nonprofit in the world. So being able to be on that stage is something that I don’t take for granted. And being able to bring something of value and get to see the world while doing the thing that I love is the ultimate privilege. So I want to thank them for having me and for bringing such great energy and for essentially making sure that my work is affirmed.

My Rant

Voicemails made sense in 1995 before everybody had free text messages and free nights and weekends, was actually not something you paid for. So voicemail made sense, maybe 20 years ago, 25 years ago, when you weren’t sure if you’re going to get somebody so you actually have to leave them a message because that’s the only way they knew you were calling. Now voicemail in 2019 is getting on my last nerves. Why are you leaving me a voicemail when you can email me if you called me and I don’t pick up or you can text me? So I decided to take it into my own hands.

My Randomness

My spotlight on this episode is my girl, Tiffany Aliche, who is known as “The Budgetnista,” a financial expert. And I’m doing this spotlight because this woman is one of the most brilliant, most thoughtful women I know. Tiffany started The Budgetnista years ago, and her passion is to educate women especially on how to be financially free by giving them actionable tips and concrete hacks on how to be able to be free from debt, how to build their savings, and how to invest better. Tiffany’s one of the most open, thoughtful people I know and she’s willing to share all the information that she has. And I know for a fact that my life is better because Tiffany’s in it.

My Guest: Damon Young

This week, my guest is the epic Damon Young. Damon Young is a writer, critic, humorous satirist and professional Black person. He’s a co-founder of verysmartbrothas.com, a columnist for GQ, and senior editor at The Root.

In this episode, we are talking all about hair, basketball, and how writing changed Damon’s life for the better.
