All Blog Conference Everything
In the beginning of this year, I decided to set a lofty goal for myself. One I actually didn’t think I’d hit, but like they say, AIM FOR THE STARS blah blah blah fall blah blah moon. Or something.
I wanted to attend the three blog conferences I attended last year. Blogging While Brown, BlogHer and Blogalicious. Each conference was amazing in its own way. The people I met and the connections I made were so great. Most of those folks, I’m still in touch with. What was cool about last year was that 2 out of those 3 conferences were paid for by my former full time gig, where I was a Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Trainer. This made it even doubly great. Conferencing can cost a good grip, but they’re usually worth it.
Anyway, my goal was to speak at two of the blog conferences this year. Lawd, I got my nerve. I didn’t verbalize this goal though because I didn’t want to be laughed out of a room for it. “Luvvie, whatchu got to talk about?” I kept my mouth shut about it and decided to go after this.
Well, I’ve actually hit my goal and SURPASSED it and I’m so shocked. I’m speaking at ALL THREE! I’ve hit my holy trifecta! *does Bro Franklin* And the coolest thing is that at each conference, I’m speaking on a different topic. Each conference touches on a different area of my life that I’m passionate about and actively working towards.
Blogging While Brown – Beyond Gossip, Hip Hop, Hair and Politics: Bloggers as Changeagents (The Red Pump Project)
BlogHer – Humor Writing Lab (Awesomely Luvvie)
Blogalicious – New Bloggers Guide: Blogging 101 & 202 (AweLuv Inc.)
*cartwheels* DC, New York City and Miami will be seeing me. Well, DC already saw me. But I’ll announce next month why it’ll be seeing me again this year. AND I just found out last week that out of 1,000 submissions, my blog post from last year “Dear BET, iQuit U” is one of the 90 pieces picked for BlogHer’s “Voices of the Year.” Mine is one of only 20 picked for the humor category. At the BlogHer Conference in August, all these works will be auctioned off at a Gala to benefit recovery efforts in the Gulf.
A GALA! I ain’t never been to no GALA before. What will I wear??? Is it like in Beauty and the Beast? Is someone gonna come sing “Tale as old as time?” How fancy! (This is why y’all can’t take me nowhere). Watch me be mad that there’s no beast sweeping a dainty girl across the floor at the event.
So allow me to say major thanks to the organizers of these conferences for thinking I’m worthy of such a platform. I’m all types of touched.
I give all glory to God for looking past my foolery and finding that my dreams are worthy of coming true. And for Him showing out in my life and blessing me so much. God is doing the running man and the cabbage patch on my life right now. HE DA BESS!!!
Many thanks to my blog readers and twitter followers for making me feel like I’m somebody.
I’m blessed. And I say thank you every day for it.

I’ve only got a brief glimpse of your hard work being an outsider looking in (through the e-world), but even by your personal accounts of said work and what you got to show for it? Congratulations! That’s awesome. The first two are topics I’m really interested in. It’s too bad I’m saddled with an infant this year. I’ll catch you next time. There will be a next time!
The babies! And “There will be a next time!” made me smile! 😀 <— like this
That’s awesome! 1000 congratulations to you. I’m BEYOND distraught that I’m missing this year’s Blogalicious conference. I remember seeing you there last year. I have no doubt your presentation will be all kinds of awesome. *high five*
Aaawwww! Thanks for the kind words! Sad to hear you’re missing the conference. Tis ok though. I’m sure the live-tweeting will be popping. You won’t feel like you’re missing a thing.
I can totally envision me holding my blackberry in one hand and my bridesmaid bouquet in the other hand, reading all the live tweets while my best friend is reciting her vows. *Wall Slide!*
LOL! Gurl… don’t get me started on my addiction to my Blackberry.
Congratulations on sharing yet another goal accomplished. Keep on keeping on!
Thanks Marcie! 😀

Hey Luvvie! Congrats from your friend and #BWB homie over at Prune Juice Media. I’m about to make out my 2011 conference list. You confirmed what I’ve been thinking for the past two weeks. I need to get out there on the conference circuit more. Much success to you at BlogHer and Blogalicious. Enjoy!
