Step Toward Your Destiny (with Tiwa Savage) – Episode 46 of Rants & Randomness
My people! Welcome to this week’s episode of Rants & Randomness.
Download Episode 46 TranscriptToday I’m talking to Tiwa Savage, if you don’t know Tiwa you’re about to fall in love with her and her music.
In addition to her amazing studio albums, she co-wrote and sang “Keys To The Kingdom” from The Lion King: The Gift and Black is King, and her fourth studio album Celia just dropped last Friday, August 28th.
Tiwa’s new album is named for her mom, and during our conversation, we talk about the importance of her mom’s voice in her life and in her career. We talk about how tough the music industry is, starting with how moving to London as a child basically changed her life and the trajectory of her career.
Tiwa is brilliant, and you’ll love this conversation about how she shows up boldly as an African woman and a Nigerian woman, the lessons she’s learned in the music industry, and how being a mom has shaped her as an artist – even as she pays tribute to her mom with this newest album. (Make sure you get this album. It’s dope.)
Much love to Chicago Recording Company, where I get the help needed to make these episodes come to life – even recording from home.
