I’m Writing A Book and AAHHHH! EXCITEMENT!
I can finally yell it from the rooftops. I AM WRITING A BOOK. I, Luvvie of House Ajayi, First of Her Name. Wearer of sick ass shoes and eater of rice. Giver of no dambs and thrower of epic shade and side-eye sorceress. I am writing a book and it’s called I’m Judging You, coming out in 2016. It will be a collection of side-eyes and lessons on life, culture and social media.
I signed my book deal with Henry Holt, one of the oldest publishers in the United States. They’re an imprint of Macmillan and I could not be giddier.
I announced it yesterday on Twitter after it was placed in Publisher’s Marketplace.
I AM SO BEYOND EXCITED to finally be able to tell you that I’ve signed a book deal with @HenryHolt! “I’M JUDGING YOU” comes out in 2016! 😃

I have wanted to write a book for so long but I wasn’t ready, even when I was first approached to do one years go. I knew I was not in the place to write something good. Now I am.
When I was signing my contracts, I signed my signature twice: one in red ink and one in black. My literary agent, Michael, just shook his head and laughed at my extraness. He knows how it is. He was also subjected to my random “OMG OMG OMG” squeals as I did it. He didn’t judge me.
But yeah, THIS IS SO SURREAL! It’s a real dream come true. It’s prayers answered and it’s a longtime coming.
Shoutout to my agent, Michael Harriot of Folio Literary Agency. Working with someone who gets my writing, finds value in it and trusts my vision is priceless. And props to my editor Allison Adler of Henry Holt, who understood the book I want to write and champions it. I’m really looking forward to working with her and giving y’all some goodness in book form.
And to YOU all. I love y’all. Over the years, your support has pushed me onward and upward. Thank you for showing me so much love. Thank you for reading my words, for sharing them, for laughing with me and for cheering me on. YOU are a big part of this deal for me. I have nothing but gratitude for my online community. We go together so tough, and I’ll make you proud with this book.
The dope folks of Tea and Breakfast wrote a piece excited about my announcement and that made me feel EXTRA love (Wayment! Does Awesomely Luvvie Have A Book Coming Out?). They even GIFFED me. It was the first time I’ve ever been giffed and I am so amused by it.
HA!
Anywho, the real work begins NOW. If I disappear for a couple of weeks this summer, it means I’ve quarantined myself somewhere to write. I cannot keep up the pace I’ve been at AND write these words on my deadline so I will be slowing down a little on the content here as I prioritize this project. But I won’t stop blogging.
