I’m Going to the NTEN Conference in DC! Thanks to YOU!
For the past 2 years, I’ve gone to the Nonprofit Technology Conference to represent the organization I used to work for as Marketing Coordinator. This conference is an awesome 3 days of panels, networking and just getting to learn more about working in the nonprofit technology field (my specialty). Both years I’ve gone, I learned so much and it was just so valuable. Plus, I’ve met so many technology/nonprofit big wigs like Beth Kanter there.
This year’s conference is from March 16-19 in Washington DC. I’ve been invited to co-present an Affinity Group at the conference where I’ll be talking about nonprofits HUGE HUGE HUGE opportunity. Co presenting at the conference I love??? Wowsies! Lucky me. Except.. now that I’m working for myself, no organization is sending me. And my pockets are currently shallower than a kiddie pool. 🙁
Registration is $400 (and that’s a discounted rate for speakers). Flight: $250-300 (it’s so late in the game). So I’ll need about $700 to be able to go.
So Wednesday night, I was having a conversation with my girl Adria Richards, and I told her. So she gave me the idea of creating a ChipIn page and having people donate to send me. I took her advice and create one and asked folks to donate $5 to help get me there.!
At 11pm, I announced this on Twitter. I woke up at 11am yesterday, and 39 ppl had donated a total of $777. WHHHHAAAA???? LOOK AT GOD!!! *church scoots*
I created a YouTube video to thank everyone for it. And to tell you why it was so important for me to be at that conference.
Y’all know I only do like 2 YouTube vids a year. But I HAD to do this one. 46 people thought I was worth their hard-earned money, so this was the least I could do.
Even though I’ve reached my goal, people keep donating! See?MAJOR thanks to all those who donated, RTed the link and gave me such kind words of encouragement! Like:
“We have all been in your shoes, one time or another. If we don’t help those that help others then why are we here? Don’t give my contribution a second thought. Take it and go with love.”
“People are giving you your roses while you can still smell them. Blessed people bless people. You happen to live comfortably in both categories.”
I feel so beyond loved and blessed. Color me trapped in a glass case of emotions!!!
And a special thanks to my friend, life coach, fellow geek, Adria Richards for planting the idea and believing that I could do this. LOVE YOU ADRIA!
Also, thanks to Estrella Rosenberg for inviting me to co-present in her. I truly appreciate it!
Yes. Jesus loves me because this little light of mine (I’m gon let it shine). Excuse me as I *church scoot* down every aisle and in every pew in the next 5 mile vicinity.
I’LL BE IN DC!!!
P.S. I registered for the NTEN conference yesterday!!! 😀
