If You Can’t Afford Real Louboutins…
Ok. I’m a shoe freak, as some folks know. My addiction to shoes is the reason why I have 130 pairs (and this blog called Must Luvv Shoes). I just love them. Red ones, blue ones, flat ones, high ones. I just love them so. Others smoke, some drink, I buy shoes.
BUT I’m a shoe addict on a budget. I stay within my means and stick with the ones $200 or less. There’s no logic behind me having a collection of Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks right now with what I make and I’m fine with that. And I have yet to buy a pair of Christian Louboutins. Can I save for a pair? Sure. But I want to get my first pair when I feel like I deserve them. Til then, Steve Madden, Aldo, Naughty Monkey and Chinese Laundry will do for me and I’m ok with that. Those red bottoms can wait.
However, some folks aren’t patient enough to wait until they can afford Loubous to rock red bottoms. So they “DIY” themselves a pair.
This very pretty and shallow chile up there went and spray-painted the bottom of her shoes red. If she wasn’t already sitting, I’d tell her to go have a seat.
Like the top comment on the video asked, does this not leave tracks when she goes out in public? When she walks on concrete, I know it has to rub off a bit. AND she’s goofy because the back of the heel of a Loubou is red too, but she wrapped the entire heel. O____O
And then she talmbout “I’m not tryna make an exact replica of the shoe.” THEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!? Ma’am… NAWL! You and your Charlotte Russe pleather platform pumps need to go get a hobby. One that doesn’t include lying on your feets. Leave the arts and crafts store alone and wear those Russes with pride! UGH.
It ain’t that serious. If you’re that thirsty for Louboutins, go find a job and save your pennies. Get the real deal instead of scheming on your Rainbow pumps to make them be great.
But the crazy thing is that there are COUNTLESS videos on YouTube of tutorials like this. Everyone’s tryna fake it when they need to be tryna make it.
I don’t have time. Good day.
P.S. Everyone, it’s pronounced “Loo-boo-tawn” with a soft N. Not Loo-boo-teen.
P.P.S. Happy 20th anniversary to Christian Louboutin!

“You and your Charlotte Russe pleather platform pumps need to go get a hobby.” <– This just made my entire morning!!!!
As a fellow shoe-lover on a budget, I just shake my head at this. You can find plenty of hot, wallet-friendly shoes that don't look cheap. And honestly, unless you're trying to pull yourself Maino, I don't think most dudes are really checking the bottoms of your pumps. *Sigh* I now have this picture in my head of a group of ratchet girls touching up their soles before they head to the club. I just can't…
Girl you know folks just don’t want to live within their means. And you’re right. Guys aren’t checking for them. If a dude IS, then he’s prolly not even on your team anyway so…
Omg who cares. leave her alone. Red bottom shoes are cute and sexy, who cares whether they are worth 700 or not? plus I can’t wear heels over 3 inches due to MEDICAL reasons, I yes, can actually afford LBs but would they even work on my body? NO. They would cause excessive pain. I am going to try this with a patent pair of nude shoes that have a heel of 3 inches- as long as whoever is wearing it is happy then it doesn’t matter. Even if it looks cheap and fake, who cares as long as it gives the girl confidence. I think the heels look cute. Goodness people
I’ve never understood people buying fake products. If I can’t afford that Louis Vuitton bag, then guess what? I won’t be rocking one til I can. I’ll have me one nice, balling on a budget bag before I go and get 5 fake ones. I just can’t do it.
GIRL RIGHT! I ain’t got no Louis and I’m ok w/ it. When I can afford one, I’ll go get one. Till then, lemme get that ALDO bag!
+1 People underestimate non-name brand items; all it takes is some quality material and a nice design/pattern, and you got yourself a nice, inexpensive product that doesn’t look like Besty Ross sewed it.
I’m a fan of non-brand name stuff IF they don’t look cheap. So folks better wear their non-designers w/ pride and stop playing out here.
What’s worse to me is when people try to fake the funk and convince you (and perhaps themselves) that they are wearing real Louboutins. I read on FB a girl say she bought some Loubis and wore them during Allstar weekend in Dallas (#sideeye) and the red was coming off the bottom. So she took them to a shoe repair shop and they charged her $600 to fix them. Ma’am……… #1. if you bought some real Louboutins and the red bottom was “coming off” the 1st (2nd, 3rd, fithylebinth) time your wore them, don’t you think Louboutin would exchange them for you?? Because that’s clearly a defect.. b.) why would you take them to a shoe repair shop and not back to the store (and demand a refund) and THEN pay $600 for the repair!? oh, you must have money to burn then, little mama. and finally – when you post on the internet “She makes some bad a** shoes but I wasn’t having that when my red bottoms started coming off”, I need you to have every seat in the vicinity… because Christian Louboutin is definitely a man. #youlose
GURL!!! Did someone give her the side-eye??? That whole tale is a FAIL. She coulda bought some loubous for $600. That’s the low end price for the cheapest. LAwd…. foolass.
they probably charged her $600 cuz they spotted a fool in their midst….and you know what they say about a fool and her money…
This story makes no sense. The red sole on all CL’s “come off” on the bottom when you wear them, and thus is not “clearly” a defect. CL will not exchange them because that is not a defect, it is just normal wear and tear.
Second, who would charge her that much for some paint, or some rubber soles, which she likely put on. It is also not $600 for the red rubber sole protectors, more like $20-$40. No one would charge or pay that much for refurbishing the soles.
You know what, I dont want to sound like a know it all. Ive got 3 pairs of REAL loubies, and my dear, they do in fact rub off. The red, it comes off it wears down quite quickly. I bought mine from the actual loub store. You can take them to a shoe man and get him to do something to them to seal the red in so it wont wear down so quickly.
i actually thought it was quite innovative. lol
If innovative means thirsty, then yes. lol
See what Sex and the City reruns on local WB stations do to misguided youth?! SEE?!
LMAO!!!
Black ass ape.
It’s funny what girls will do to impress other girls.
Guys only really care about the body and face.
Clothes?
That’s something you take off…
L “It’s what’s on the inside that counts” B
WELP!!!
That’s gonna leave a mark!
Absolutely hilarious! Yea I agree with conmon, I cannot do the replicas of stuff. I’d rather patiently wait until I’m able to get the real deal. Like really, I would feel like I’m disrespecting myself by wearing that ish. I can’t.
Right. Folks need patience. And less shallowness. And this is coming from an impatient shallow person.
I’m not about to mess around & get high off the fumes of a can of spray paint just to say I got some Louboutins. The peoples is doing entirely too much to impress others nowadays. Best to just hit up Spring.com or DSW & call it a day.
RIGHT?!? All the indoor spray painting ain’t e’em healthy for your lungs.
The BBW killed Louboutins for me. I would feel like a straight up basic bitch in a pair of those with an Herve Leger bodycon dress. I loooooove me some shoes, but I HATES me some compound interest, so if I can’t afford to press “DEBIT”, I don’t buy it. And I can afford them, but I’d rather save up for that X5 (cerulean blue, no car note, YESSSS!)
Yeah folks have dragged Loubous through the ground. Yes, I shall wait til I cn have those come out my checkings, not my savings.
Now this truly calls for my favorite phrase…..#niggaforwhy?
Its okay to be a part of the 99% boo boo.
*Lmdao*.
LMAOOO #niggaforwhy will never not be funny to me.
Oh hell no.
Luvvie,
This young lady really meant it. She took time and care to scotch tape those pieces of notebook paper to her Charlotte Russe heels. We need to be #payingamish to her innovation in this here recession.

i really tried to type that with a straight face. but seriously, that whole i’m doing that for the look is bull. i work at a higher end handbag store, and people who buy fakes really try to pass them off as the real deal. i think part of it is they believe it’s real. girl bye.
She TRIED it. She really did. Faking it this much. E’em if no one knows it’s fake (as if), your spirit should be shamed.
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Like people really can’t tell that your $39.99 pleather platform pumps from Charlotte Russe that will probably fall apart after a few wears have been spray painted? Folks are really supposed to be dense enough to think those are legit CL’s?
I didn’t know it was this daggone serious. Sheesh.
GIRL! She’s giving none of us credit. As if Loubou shoes look like this. And $39.99? You’re overselling the value and amount she spent on those by $20.
iCan’t. I just …sigh. She took time to create some fake Louboutins??!! This is why we are failing as a country. While she is trying to fake some shoes she can’t afford, folks in other countries are learning quantum physics. SMH
Girl – I am a shoe lover to the nth power. I thought I was doing something when I splurged on eggplant Badgely Mischka pumps for my wedding. This child is doing too much to be faking it.
She is a dingbat.
LMAO @ dingbat. I don’t use that word enough
Imma need her to get her shoe-weight up and a handle on her muthafucking life! *smh*
Oh hell to the nawl that is too much work! I would rather go buy the real thing chile have a seat on the floor! No maam!
If you wear Louboutins, the bottoms are going to get scraped…. a)why would anyone in their right mind spend EXTRA money to repaint the bottoms that are going to get scraped again, and b) if it’s that serious, why even wear them, hell why BUY them??? This shit sounds ridiculous. Broads wasting time and money on trivial shit!

Both pronunciations listed are wrong, check this video out, it will help you. I know we can’t all be fluent in French 🙂
[…] DIY Red Bottoms: For The Hoodrat In All Of Us ~ Awesomely Luvvie […]
lol wow i didn’t realize how much attention this video would get, good or bad. I did it, not because i can’t afford it (you don’t know me let alone my bank account balance) but because i just choose not to spend a lot of money on shoes, everyone has things they love, shoe are not one of them for me but i don’t go around calling people that do, names but thats just me, so in the end who’s really the child & needs to sit down and learn? the person that teases others and flaunts their luxury items while cutting them down or someone that teaches people how to save money, use it for worthy things and not worry about materialistic items… don’t get me wrong i do buy luxury things but i don’t go around flaunting it and put other people down cause they cant afford it, thats just plan rude.
I don’t see the point in spraying shoes to look like “Louboutins”. I think I’d feel worse because they aren’t the legit thing and I’m tricking people into thinking I had them. I worked my butt off and bought my first pair of Louboutins and I actually felt proud to have said I earnt the money myself working hard. I don’t have time to spray some of my other shoes bottoms. Louboutin fans surely would know if you did them yourself anyway…different red colour, the style of the shoe, and the quality. It just isn’t worth it in my opinion.
Am I the only person that hates when ppl call them “red bottoms” ??? Why can’t we just call them by their name?
And to Amber, if you’re not worried about materialistic things, then why are you spray painting shoes to look like really expensive shoes you saw a famous person wear?
I own 3 pair of Christian Louboutins, (2 I bought, 1 was a gift) and I spent quite a bit on them… However, I also rock cheap shoes as well, some I found in Macy’s and even Burlington. To be honest, I get just as many compliments on the cheaper shoes as I do my red bottoms. I also think the reason I get compliments on my CL’s is because people are fascinated by the red bottoms, and the “status” they represent. I also get crazy looks when I wear them, because some people look at me like I’m stupid for spending that much on a pair of shoes, and I have to say, in a way, they’re right. If you can afford them, then do what you do, if you can’t, don’t worry about it, it’s not that serious, they’re only shoes…… I think it’s ridiculous to literally spray paint the bottom of shoes just so you can look like something you’re not.
I have a pair of real red bottoms that are.gorgeous but I hate red so do you think I can spray paint them black?
You are so awesome! I do not suppose I have read anything like this before. So great to find another person with some unique thoughts on this topic. Seriously.. many thanks for starting this up. This site is one thing that’s needed on the web, someone with some originality!
Coming from a French speaker you’re correct about the silent N but are still saying the name wrong. It’s a NASAL “AN” like the first part of TOngue or Underwear. Nice try tho. Should really calm the ego down a bit. You sound scorned.
You say it isn’t that serious and yet here is an entire blog entry about it.
