I’m So Excited To Be an XFINITY Comcast Black Innovator with Issa Rae and Ava DuVernay!
I’ve been getting tweets and Facebook messages this past week from people who’ve heard my voice on the radio in a commercial talking about what I do. And that’s because I was chosen as a Black Innovator by XFINITY Comcast’s CelebrateBlackTV.com, along with Issa Rae and Ava DuVernay! It’s part of their #MakingHistoryToday Black History Month campaign.
For the entire month of February, you will see ads on the web, in print and hear me, Issa and Ava touted as Black innovators all over the radio! Our videos will also be on OnDemand! HOW COOL IS THAT???!?
Excited is an understatement, actually. I AM FREAKING OUT! First of all, being mentioned with Issa and Ava is dope by itself. I mean, talk about being in some amazing company! Being recognized for the full scope of what I do, as a Writer, Humorist, Digital Strategist, Techie and founder of The Red Pump Project feels pretty damb good. It feels great!
The process of shooting this campaign was awesome too. I walked on set and someone tells the director “Your talent is here” and I looked around to see who they were talking about. OH YOU MEANT ME. Ha!
This is totally how I look when I am writing every day. Totally.
I was interviewed about my life, my work, my beliefs and I told my story in ways I typically don’t. They took all that and made a 15 second video and a 3 minute one.
I also got to record 30 and 60 sec radio spots. Voice actors get ALL THE PROPS because it took many takes to get it right but it was so fun. Keep letting me know when you hear those ads because I grin every single time.
