This is the Most Delicious Resignation Letter Ever

When you know it’s time to quit your job and move on to greener pastures and whatnots, it can be hard to write the letter of resignation. Finding the right words takes time. And do you type it or write it out? Wells, this dude in the UK found the best way to quit his job.

Resignation Cake

My homie right here quit his job to pursue his cake business so he baked a cake and wrote out his resignation in icing for his boss.

I couldn’t e’em be mad if I was Chris Holmes’ boss. You mean you got me something delicious to eat to notify me that you’re leaving? That is just hella considerate. And I’d pray it was red velvet because that’s my favorite. I kinda wanna know what flavor it was. The next person to quit the job with just a measly piece of paper will get scowled at.

But I think my favorite part of this is that he ended the letter with his website, in case they might wanna order cakes in the future. WHICH THEY BETTER! He is CLEARLY good at this too. And he already has his marketing cap on. Mr. Cake will be just fine (once his website comes back up. I think it’s flooded by so much traffic right now). You can also follow him on Twitter at @MrCakeUK.

What flavor do you want this cake to be? Also, how would you react if you were Chris’ boss?

All I know is, that cake betta be yella up under there or he betta not expect good references should that cake biz fail and he has to go back into the work force.

Most REAL entrepreneurs do not need to go back to the workforce! Some people were meant to be dedicated little employees who need ‘good little references’ in order to try and get that promotion (which most people in corporate get passed on). Some people want to be in charge of promoting themselves, not the other way around. He will likely not fail and if he does, he can dust himself off and move on to something even greater! He doesn’t have to work 30 years, to retire at 65 and what, sit around waiting to move into a nursing home!

This made me smile. I hope his former colleagues appreciated this gesture, which, judging by how nice he was in his letter (not to mention an actual freaking cake he baked for em) they did appreciate very much.

I’m thinking its chocolate…cuz damn, that would be awesome.

If I was his boss, I’d ask him to put that on paper so I know it’s real…then proceed to go HAM on that cake! And order one for my niece’s birthday, lol!

Resgination letter of life!! This dude just set the bar high for anyone who would decide to resign after him. Lol, but on a more serious note, is this legally acceptable? Considering the ‘proof of resignation’ will be pushed down people’s bellys in a matter of hours?

I love cake! Unless it was lemon or carrot I’d be happy to be able to eat cake. He could have called me out of my name on that cake, I’d still be like ooooh cake!

Ok, I’ve been fighting cravings for cake all day. I am a CERTIFIED cake addict. I would have taken that cake, eaten it, and requested his cake-making services for the next office function (if it’s good… o.O

I don’t care what flavor the cake is, long as it’s not dry. Maaaan, that’s a lot of cake too. All smooth, and delicious looking. I bet it cuts real nice, reeeeal nice. Mmmm…

I can’t take it. I’m going to get some kind of cake TODAY!

BBQ some ribs that spell out “I QUIT!” They would be so busy licking their fingers I am sure my colleagues would even help me carry all my stuff to the car.

*cackling* You just made me realize that my first big job resignation should have gone exactly this way – then i wouldn’t have had to cart out my giant jade plant by myself! I was the only vegetarian in a sea of tech-addled carnivores who loved. them. some ribs

Very creative! I would want the flavor to definitely be butter pecan.

Did you notice that the letter fit perfectly on the cake?

  14. April 16, 2013 at 8:43 pm

I want that cake to be Red Velvet! I certainly hope his former boss and colleagues were happy for him – and will patronize his business for future office events!

Chocolate and not no dry cornbread tasting chocolate either. Moist, rich, deep chocolate and the icing should be cream cheese icing. Bonus points if the lettering is chocolate flavored as well.

As a cake artist/baker – I fully approve and support this. Mr.Cake, get yours! I’d hope for a decadent dark chocolate or vanilla bean w/fruit filling.

  17. April 16, 2013 at 11:25 pm

That is BOSS right there! Go Mr. Cake!

I LOVE this story! I hope his cake business keeps growing and growing!

We would be perfect at parties together, because I would give you all the Red Velvet, for some reason Red Velvet and Carrot Cake just gross me out, for me I’d love mine to be Black Forest Cake, or a Strawberry Shortcake, and I’d call everyone to the conference room, share a piece with everyone and him and I’d buy the milk! 🙂

I’m marveling at how nice and neat and straight his lettering is! He has a gift. I want to go to the UK just to have one of his cakes. I bet Food Network has already inked a deal with hi!

Oops, just realized that I didn’t reply to your questions. I’m in the mood for something lemony with a vanilla bean frosting under that fondant. If I were is boss, I’d wish him all the best and keep in close contact, because the kid is going places!
