Thanking My Old Readers and Welcoming My Newbies!

Three nights ago, I checked my blog traffic and for the first time ever, I hit 6 figure pageviews in 1 day. There were over 100,000 visits to my website on Tuesday and I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt. Then Wednesday around 8pm, I checked my traffic and that number was trumped by over 30,000 and I wanted to cry from joy. I was at home like:

Crying emotional gif

I RE-BROKE MY OWN RECORD! You guys! *weeps* This is huge for me. HUGE!

I was talking to someone a coupla weeks ago and I told her how many pageviews my site gets a month and she was like “You should be so proud!” I am, dagnabbit! It took 8 years to get here. It took 1,150+ posts. And I did it all while being a team of 1. I’ve done good. I don’t pat myself on the back often so I shall revel and luxuriate in this moment.

I was all verklempt and unable to thug. As if I haven’t been wading in a pool of my feelings enough. My thug called me from Fiji talmbout “Girl, you should be here. I’ll be back whenever I feel like it, doe.” My goon ain’t loyal.

I was feeling mighty low recently. I posted status on FB bout it talmbout how I feel like blogosphere’s class clown. I was feeling all pitiful, like people don’t take me serious and I don’t get the brand love others do. People got me SO TOGETHER immejately. My friends hemmed me up and spoke power into me. I might not be getting the love from companies and my pockets don’t match my prestige. But my voice matters. And I gotta keep doing what I’m doing and keep doing it on my own terms. I’m creating my own path. I might have to work twice as hard but hey. Whatevs. When it pays off, it will pay off majorly.

I’m already outchea like:

Dancing Pam gif

Again, thank you all. Because in the times when I feel like my work isn’t hitting on much, yall lift me up and you don’t even know it. I appreciate it every time you tweet one of my posts or share it on FB. For real for serious.

And your comments? Well yall ain’t got the sense God gave a goat. I love it!

I HAVE THE BEST READERS ON THE INTERPLANETWEB! Y’all are everything.

Note to the newbies

If you are just joining the Awesomely Luvvie family (yes, we are a family), I welcome you with open arms. Take off your coat and stay awhile.

Awwwww Luvvie! *sniffles* Sending much love from Kingston, Jamaica. I joined the madness the night of Scandal’s season 1 finale when you dropped the ‘you will deal’ tweet that your cousin Kerry said was the best reaction to the happenings and even Ms Shonda RTd. I followed you on Tha Twitta immejately and then came over to the blog, where I proceeded to laugh so hard my head hurt. Thanks for the laughs, the tears of mirth and the awesome new words to add to my vocabulary! I big you up so often to my friends and co-workers that whenever they see me laughing and crying at the same time, they know I’m on the LuvBlog. Keep up the good work sis. God will reward you openly when the fullness of time has come.

As a proud LuvBug, I would die if you stopped writing. I even read the old blogs as far back as 2010 and laugh like a classless wonder. Everytime I leave Raleigh and go back to my hometown of Chicago, I be looking for you because we go together. I know we do, because you said so. Keep doing what you’re doing, because you are the best!!

Retweet led me to a link to this wonderfully hilarious and awesome blog and a member of Luvvnation was immediately initiated into Alpha Luvvie Row the Goon Phi Goon chapter. So no matter what I have to thank that old troll each year for giving me you lol. Keep doing you Luvvie 🙂

Luvvie, I am a recent fan who joined during this season of Scandal. I’m from Texas and a lot of your church and funeral foolery is so real to me. I have been asked to leave rooms in my own home, due to my screaming and laughing while reading your blogs. I have told several family members about your works and they are now “Luvvies”. Keep up the great work. You are the queen of this thing!

    Luvvie,
I LOVES your blog! Been an avid reader for about a year. I was turned onto it by a friend in one of the Scandal FB groups I’m in and I was HOOKED on reading your blog from the first Scandal recap I read. I even bookmarked it on my laptop right thenow and there. I cackled, hollered, cried, and got my life that day :-). I even turned a few people on to your blog and FB page.
Keep doing what you’re doing girl. People need a little humor with a dose of realness in their lives.
    Much love from Charlotte, NC.
    P.S.
My vote is for “LuvNation”. I think it’s inclusive of men and women (I got my husband reading your blog too lol). I can see the t-shirtsunami now…

Oh Luvvie why must you pull at my heart strings and play them like a banjo so early in the morning, ok so you may not have fourtune 500 sponsors, so what you have fortune 1000 readers, who wake up every morning and after doing their morning prayers and devotion look for you to bring tom foolery and unique alteration to bring us joy.
After reading your recaps and thoughts on random fools, you give us that chuckle in the day that makes others look at us with >_>, but we don’t care because laughter is the best medicine and you are better than an advil without the liver damage 😀

So keep on keeping on my sister, be like Ms. Maya, give us your words of wisdom, speak for us when we can’t speak about the injustice of this world, but also about the beauty and humor that make each day better.

I’ve been hanging and banging with you a little bit before Scandal kicked off. I was introduced to you through a great friend of mine, when she posted the joint with the lady with the Reading Rainbow eyebrows and you screamed proudly Who’s Auntie is This! I laughed til my side cramped up and had to laugh in short, measured, well timed chuckles. You do so much for so many and you don’t even understand (Bernie Mac Vc). Love coming all the way from Florida.

    Luvvie,

I’ve only been reading for probably about 2 years now, but I am a fan through and through. Your writing is amazing and you have a hilarious point of view. I especially enjoy your frequently used phrases from Chile (cause its hilarious to say), to damb (cause I do cussing variations in my head often lol), to WELP (and the longer variations of Welp like “all the Welps that ever WELPED IN WELPCHESTER” LOL)

From the serious to the absolutely ridiculous to the strange, but always completely relevant gifs you are able to find and strategically place all throughout your posts, I am always interested to read the Awesomely Luvvie take on it. I vote for “LuvNation”…

Team Luvvie 🙂 Keep doing your thing ma’m!

    Hey Luvvie!

Jersey girl and fellow Capricorn here! I have been reading your blog for about 2 years now. I think I discovered it by way of The Black Snob’s blog and I was hooked immediately. It led me to reading almost all of your past blogs and looking forward to all of your new ones. My favorite is when you write your sternly worded letters, especially the series to Stevie Wonder’s (non)style team. I laughed so hard and loud! I am feeling sternly worded letter deficient, can we get another?

Keep doing what you are doing. I tell people about your blog, share your posts and I hope my little contribution is helping your blog grow. Laughter is so important, even when talking about serious things because people become more receptive when it is done appropriately. That’s why in my head you, John Stewart and I go together, lol!

And I’ve beefed up my vocab thanks to you! My vote is for LuvBugs, btw. Keep doing what you do, and I’ll keep loving ‘ya all the way from Little Rock, Arkansas

  26. May 30, 2014 at 8:16 am

Maki-ing all the Dadas from Boston, MA!

I’ve been reading your blog for the last two years. I was up one Summer night feeling really down and stressed out about a lot. I was strolling the “innerwebs”, and I don’t know what link led me to your site, but I absolutely died from laughter. The house was dead quiet, my fiance was asleep next to me, and I gave up trying not to wake him up with my sniggling and cackling. I remember you saying something in that post about “Howling at the Blue Corn Moon” and I fell apart. That was the first and most memorable Luvvie-ism from that night. I’ve been reading ever since. I couldn’t keep it to myself, and I kept sharing posts on FB. A few of my friends have now started following and cackling along as a result.

What I love about this site is how original and how genuinely FUNNY your posts are, without you trying too hard or going for shock value. You just tell it like it is without being too serious, while not forgetting your intelligence at home. Smart humor is the best. I like all of the good things that you are doing with this site and others. In fact, DumbestTweets was my first intro to your network, before I knew AwesomelyLuvvie existed, and I’ve been into that for about 4 years I think. Keep up the good work. I’m truly enjoying your ascent to the top! 😀

Shouts to all my fellow commenters, because y’all have had me in plenty stitches.

Ahem! That said, your werk is funny, but you ain’t no joke. I am a relatively new member to the LUVVNATION squeal with glee at the mere idea of being called LUVVBUG. Hol’ up, my thug just slipped. Either is cool with me.

I don’t know when I started reading but I know that we’ve been through a lot together so we go together. I’ve been reading long enough that I tried to get where you were in DC two summers ago, go lost, had to pee, and went home. I still don’t know how I get lost in my own city. You’ve gotten me through my mom’s cancer and just some personal rough spots. So I’m a proud LuvBug from DC proper and I love you like a bougie girl loves brunch!

  38. May 30, 2014 at 10:04 am

Thanks for the reintroduction! I met you briefly at Blogging While Brown and a few of the bloggers in my circle always speak about you so I followed a few weeks ago + clearly have become addicted. I’m based in NYC! xo keep it up girlie.

Luvvie you are better than depression meds & so necessary. Your writing is brilliant your comedy is flawless, you perception of the world is unique and your blog is one of my favorites. If you wrote it I’ll read it, period. Congratulations on the milestones met & surpassed. We love you, thanks for sharing your gift. ♡

  40. May 30, 2014 at 10:22 am

Hey girl hey! Congratulations on the new milestones! Girl let’s have a porty. Alright, more like a chip & dip, funds is limited >_> But I’ve been a LuvvBug (there’s my vote) for over a year, maybe closer to two. I got my mom all into your blog, and I’m afraid you might be tryna oust me for fave daughter status… we’ll discuss will arrangements at a later date I spose. Thank you for always having me cackling, tears drying on their own, and giving me the inability to can on a regular basis. My cans been on backorder for a good long time. I stopped giving out rain checks; my cans are somewhere near the Bermuda Triangle. God got it. But thank you for your foolishness and for being you all day errday. Stadium status!

I’ve been reading your blog for about 5 years. Found you on VSB and when they got on my nerves, I came to your site. I was all, “let me see what Luvvie talmbout.” Then I found myself not going to the other site at all and visiting yours first. I live in Ndisba now, but found your blog when I lived in DC. I visit every day for your comic relief and interesting recaps of pop culture and life. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations Luvvie!!! I am so happy for you and all the great things happening because you did it your way ( cue Frank Sinatra).

I have been reading your blog for over a year now, and the post that brought me here was about how Michelle Obama handled that rude heckler at a fundraiser. When I read “Michelle LaVaughn Robinson is not here to take your shyt!” I knew that I was at home. lol

A fellow Capricorn from Brooklyn, New York here.
I have been reading your blog for about a week. Have a good friend (she is not a good friend anymore because she kept your blog all to herself for quite some time) who sent me the link to the bridal party “Drunk in Love” dance, and I have been here ever since. I knew we were in for all kinds of sugar honey ice tea when one of the attendees at the wedding was in JEANS.

Keep up the good work. You bring a dose of fun and laughs while I am at work. Lawd knows I need it.

    Complimenti Luvvie!!!

And before anyone corrects my spelling I meant to write COMPLIMENTI… because it means “congratulations” in Italian. I am a LUVVBUG in the LUVVNEST all the way from Sicily Italy. I grew up in the states but have lived in Italy now for almost 5 years.

I have been following your blog for only a minute but I won’t stop until I get enough. I cry and die laughing at everything you write and then your next piece gives me all the life back. I use parts of your vocabulary in my erryday life but no one knows what Im talmbout because it does not translate well in Sicilian but they can all have a seat because I do not understand what they are saying when they speak dialect.

Your blog keeps me in touch with my brand of humor. So glad you do what you do how you do. Keep it up chile.

We are all very proud of you! Congrats.

I started following you about a year and a half ago when I stumbled across the Teef Keef post (which I still read when I need a good soul cleansing cackle) and you and I have gone together ever since – even if you didn’t know it. Whenever something happens in the world, good or bad, I look forward to your perspective and comments because I know you will say what I’m thinking as only you can. You represent us well. I’m happy to be a LuvBug. 😉 Keep doing what you’re doing.

I have been in the family for about 2 years now and my life is better for it. Personally I love Luvvnation cuz this is a movement….quotes Fabolous song ‘You Make Me Better’…”I’m a movement by myself but I’m a force when we’re together”….that’s how I feel about us and our innerweb family. Anyhow I’m in Kansad City and I do my best to repost everything and put more and more people on to game. That’s my duty. Hey I hate to see them just missing out on greatness. Just outchea being mediocre at life. Everybody can’t be great but in sure trying to help them be. They better get on in here and getchu some of this Luvvnation Life…throws up my Double L’s!!!

    Luvvie,

First, you are awesome!! And all the puns are intended.I must say that you have been a great inspiration to me and I am truly thankful that I stumbled into your blog via buzzfeed ‘re: dumbest tweets. I’ve been low key stalking your blog for well over a year now and this may be the first time I’ve commented. I know it’s natural to have feelings of insecurity when you don’t feel you are rising to the insane, pressure-filled levels of achievement that we set for oursselves. But I don’t want you to ever think, even for a second, that your work is not taken seriously. I can’t speak for everyone, I know, but for me personally, you provide a much needed outlet and source of joy. This has been one of the hardest years of my life and coming here provides me with ALL of EVERYTHING I need! I’m battling lupus/raynauds, working 2 jobs, starting a business, and One of the things that keeps me going is the time I spend stalking your blog, tweets, and FB posts. When I ended up in your storify and you retweeted me and I was geeked! Your continued activism is also amazing. You’ve inspired me to continue to build my virtual business and I’m going full force w/it. Thanks for Awesomely Techie btw. Ok I’ve written 10 books here. But In conclusion, you are great and please never stop. We (and by we I mean I) need you and all you do. We will continue to go hard in the paint 4u.

You’re awesome!! First post of yours I ever read was a sternly worded letter to Khia, who claimed that Beyonce had stolen her dance move or some such thing!

Anyway, that was in my 2nd year of University, now graduated and doing this adulthood thing, and getting my life daily from Luvvie. I feel like we’ve grown together and i’m so thankful for you.

Your humour and talent is God-given and don’t you ever ever forget that! To many more posts and views 🙂

I have been a resident reader/lurker since you had 5,000 facebook fans and under 9k twitter followers. You even retweeted me a couple times, and commented on my fb comments, we go waaaaaay back like Stevie Wonder’s hairline!! We go so far back that at one point I used to read your other “serious blog” that talked about spirituality and such (what happened to that one!) So umm yea we’re bffs in my head lmao! Look at YOU guuurrl, you don arrived with all your successes and what not, being an award show correspondent, invited to the white house, award winning blog, hosting webinars, ratchet and the geek, columns all over the place, scandal recap captain, all your work with the Red Pump project, being in the same room with LUPITA et al!!! I AM PROUD OF YOU! Can’t wait to see more!(Do more sternly worded letters, those are my everything!)

I stumbled across the link to your “Whose Weave Did Hurricane Sandy Literally Snatch?” post on Twitter a little more than a year ago (I was in my HS library doing ‘research’ for a paper). Laughed so hard the librarian threatened to throw me out. You immediately became my favorite person on the internet. If I’m ever sad, angry, or just in need of a good laugh, I know exactly where to come. If it hadn’t been for your recaps, I never would have gotten into the television BRILLIANCE that is Scandal. Your posts have gotten me through many a stressful day, and I thank you so much for that. Keep doing you and using the comedic gift God gave you!

I have been a loyal fan since I voted for you for a Black Weblog Award who knows how many years ago. You posted a video of you doing a wall slide because one of your followers didn’t know what it was, and I cried laughing for HOURS. I live for your sternly worded letters (the one you wrote to the Cavaliers fans after Lebron defected was the best!), I discovered Scandal with you (I read the recaps RELIGIOUSLY!), and I share your love of all things red velvet! Keep on writing Girl…you don’t know how much sunshine and foolishness you bring into our lives! I come to your blog when someone comes for my Big Sister Chelle because I KNOW that Luvvie has already given them a serious read for it. Need a cackle in the midst of the day? Luvvie’s got it! That funeral post for James when he passed (and the comments) had me giggling all day! Yall gave a good service…James would have been pleased.
This is your blessing Luvvie…live in it!

First, I vote for “LuvBugs!” It’s SO cute…and it totally doesn’t denote the pure and utter foolishness that happens amongst you and your loyal readers/followers/family (of which I totally consider myself to be a part!) Wow, I’ve been reading your blog for years…I’m not entirely sure how I found your blog or exactly when… but I read every post…including the ones that mean nothing to me (like, recaps of shows that I don’t e’em watch!) I live in Baltimore! Oh…and the fact that you love the Wire (even though it makes my city look quite turrble!) made me love you more!
