For My Dry Skin Folks – My Winter Skincare Routine

My skin is dry, but you can’t often tell because I’ve gotten a dope skincare routine to help me manage it. Cuz we gon GLOW REGARDLESS of the situation.

Anywho, Chicago winters testttt my dryness. I woke up this morning and felt my skin was parched! Why? Because it’s 6 degrees outside. Now is the time to get back to my winter skincare routine.

So if you’re a dry skin baddie, below is a helpful routine that will make sure you don’t look like Spongebob that one time he walked on land.

This, by the way, is the SIMPLEST routine. There are some additional steps for those who wanna go the extra mile but I’ll add those at the bottom. There are 3 brands I especially love for their products to use in winter: Paula’s Choice, Caudalie and TULA.

CLEANSE

Use a hydrating cleanser or something gentle so it doesn’t strip your skin of too much oil.

I like this one: Paula’s Choice Omega Complex Cleansing Balm

Also this: Paula’s Choice Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser

TREAT/HYDRATE

Use a hyaluronic acid serum because what it does is attract moisture in your skin. They say it’s like giving your skin a big drink of water. Make sure your skin is a little damp before putting it on because it actually hydrates using the water that’s already present. And you only need a dime size. One bottle will last you 3-6 months.

My fave: TULA 24-7 Ultra Hydration Triple-Hydra™ Complex Day & Night Serum with Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane & Collagen.

2nd fave: Caudalie VinoHydra Hydrating Hyaluronic Serum

MOISTURIZE

Use a heavy moisturizing cream on top of your serum. We need it to do work!

Faves: TULA Ultra hydrating day & night cream

SUNSCREEN

Because even if you’re indoors (or have melanin), you need sunscreen.

I use the TULA Daily sunscreen gel broad spectrum SPF 30

That is the daily routine.

Now, I have some additional products for you to grab because they are clutch for different moments.

If during the day, your skin feels dry, use a FACE MIST to refresh and re-hydrate your skin. I’ve been using the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. I also carry this in my bag when I’m traveling. Air plane air is THE WORST. This is the spray I cannot get enough of.

ONCE A WEEK

Give yourself a little treatment once a week to give extra hydration and moisture to your skin. I often do this on Sundays, which I use as my Sabbath. After cleansing your face, slather a hydrating mask on, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, rinse it off and do the rest of our routine.

My faves: FARMACY Honey Potion Plus Ceramide Hydration Mask

Caudalie VinoHydra Moisturizing Mask

Aight, so go forth, drink your water and stay moisturized.

Let me know if you have any questions I can answer. And if you need more recommendations.
