August is Black Business Month, and my team and I have the audacious goal to infuse $1 million dollars into Black-owned businesses. Mentorship is cool, but small, Black businesses need MONEY.
With your help, we poured $75,000 into 3 Black businesses after #ShowerGate. What started as frustration at people’s hygiene habits turned into game-changing sales for these 3 companies in 24 hours:
Now, imagine the impact we could have on Black-owned businesses over the next month! This is why we are doing #BlackBusinessLuvv in the month of August.
What we’ll be doing:
- Highlighting a different Black-owned business every day this month on my social media (and on this page). All items are LuvvList approved. I know and love them and believe you will too.
- Presenting a wide variety of companies; we have skincare, fashion, tech, jewelry, home décor, candles and more. Black people are not a monolith, and our businesses reflect the same.
- Encouraging grace; these companies are vetted and fully capable of handling your customer service inquiries. Many of them are solopreneurs or function with small teams, so they’ll need patience from you while they work to get your orders shipped out. They are not Amazon and do not guarantee shipping within hours of your order.
So, what’s our reason?
Historically, Black businesses have faced systemic barriers and hurdles that prevent them from being established and growing at the same rate as their counterparts. When we intentionally support small, Black businesses, we make their way a bit easier.
We want to see them scale up, and hire the teams they need to be great.
A $1 million dollar goal, 31 Black businesses, and 31 days to change their lives.
