Social Media Week Lagos, Here I Come!
Social Media Week is a global event that happens in multiple cities all over the world at the same damb time. The goal is to explore the “social, cultural and economic impact of social media.” So it’s basically All Social Media Everything.
It happens twice a year, in February and September. This next one is happening from February 18-22, and will be going on in Milan, New York, Washington DC, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Miami, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, and LAGOS!!!
Yes, Social Media Week Lagos! Here’s what’s awesome about it. This will be the first time Social Media Week will be happening on the African continent, and it’s in Nigeria! WHOOT! It’s thanks to the persistence and work of Ngozi Odita of Society HAE. She’s really making SMWLagos happen so props to her!
Anywho, the minute I found out about it, I knew I had to be there. Social Media Week can’t be on my home turf and I’m missing. NAWL!
So I will be in Lagos! And I’m speaking there too!
I submitted a panel called Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age and it was accepted! It’s all about how to stand out as a business owner in this social media space. Tiwa Works, marketing and event extraordinaire will be on it too!
ALSO, I’m a part of The Afripolitans, a collective of young Black leaders who want to see Africa prosper, and we’re hosting the welcome reception “The Arrival.” We’re looking for sponsors for this event, so if you’re interested in having your company be a part of it, email me at luvvieblog at gmail dot com for the sponsorship kit.
I was just added to a panel called Social Media vs Social Good: Going Digital The Non-Profit Way. It’s gonna be a full week in Naija.

WHoot to Nigeria! I’m from Kaduna State, I’m in Maryland now. I don’t think I have any family left in Lagos. I got some in Abuja though. Wonder if they would be willing to make the commute. Nigeria Represent!
